ABOUT
/THE BRAND/ /OCT-oBR/ is a contemporary, luxury ready to wear brand with elements of avant-garde, streetwear, and tailoring featuring both menswear and womenswear designs. The brand is known for its dark silhouettes, proportioned layering and purposeful deconstruction; all presented with the primary focus on storytelling. /OCT-oBR/ is independently owned and operated in Chicago, IL.
/THE DESIGNER/ /OCT-oBR/ is owned and operated by designer Ty Covey. Ty is originally from Kernersville, a small town located in North Carolina. He picked up his passion for design and fashion through music and artists such as ASAP Rocky and Kanye West. He described fashion as what felt like a “secret club” that he wanted to be involved in. His home town was not a place where fashion thrives, making it even more intriguing. Ty would eventually step away from his collegiate studies after being denied from the UNCG design program in order to move to Chicago to fully pursue his dream of design. Ty has been inspired by the likes of Martin Margiela, Virgil Abloh, Jerry Lorenzo, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto, Jun Takahashi, and Raf Simons.
/THE MEANING/ /OCT-oBR/ comes from not only the designer’s birthday month but from the verse Ecclesiastes 3:1 - “To every thing there is a season… and a time to every purpose under heaven.” You will notice this featured on the tag of each garment. /OCT-oBR/ has always made it a priority to present itself through seasons, not only in terms of the fashion industry but seasons of life. Seasons that many of us go through during our individual journeys. Although each season and path is different for each individual, it all leads to our purpose. It is solely left to us to find that path and pursue it.
/OCT-oBR/ is the ongoing journey of the constant inner and outward conflicts, while in the pursuit of something greater.
